Practioners Panel Debate: SOA and Data Services

We will close this year’s event with panelists from integration and data management professions, discussing how the two groups can work with each other as well as debating different approaches based on Data in Motion and Data at Rest techniques.

About the Panelists:

Mehmet Orun, Genentech

Mehmet Orun leads Genentech’s Data Services Center of Excellence as Principal Architect, responsible for data architecture and data services infrastructure projects. He was previously a management consultant specializing in integration, migration, and data warehousing projects, and also worked in academic and healthcare IT. His interest and expertise includes data and meta data driven solutions to improve data quality, maintainability, and utility while bridging the gap across applications, processes, and structured and unstructured data sources. Mehmet is the President of San Francisco chapter DAMA and has been published in TDAN.

John Schmidt, Wells Fargo

John Schmidt is Managing Director of Enterprise Architecture (EA) at Wells Fargo. John leads a team responsible for the architecture program including the development and disciplined use of architecture solutions, standards, and practices across the enterprise. John’s role includes driving the corporate EA transformation, building and sustaining architecture frameworks with emphasis on business architecture, developing a multi-year architecture blueprint and implementing EA governance procedures. Mr. Schmidt is a frequent speaker on the topic of architecture and integration. He has written a book (Integration Competency Center: An Implementation Methodology) and countless articles on the subject of architecture and integration. John has served on the board of the Integration Consortium since it’s inception in 2001 and is currently Chairman.

Peter Tran, Composite Software

Peter Tran brings over 13 years of software and related business experience to Composite Software. Prior to Composite, Peter was the Director of Industry Solutions at webMethods, a leading application integration software company. Prior to webMethods, Peter was Vice President of at Robertson Stephens, focusing on the Software Industry. Peter also spent several years as an information technology consultant at PricewaterhouseCoopers where he implemented complex IT systems, analytics, and reporting systems.
